Q:
Where will the service be offered?
A: AffordMeds services the entire United States and the
only eligibility requirement is that the individual is over
21. top
Q:
Why can I buy generic drugs from Canada that are not available
in my community?
A: Because of differences in patent law, Canada is able
to produce generic versions of brand name drugs much earlier
than other countries. As you may be aware of generic drugs
in the city where you live, you know they offer substantial
savings over brand names. top
Q: Do I need a US prescription when
ordering from Canada?
A: Yes. You must provide a valid prescription from a physician
licensed to practice medicine and to prescribe medications
in the place where you live. top
Q:
How large a supply of my medication may I buy?
A: You may order only as much as your physician prescribes
for you. You can order no more than a three month supply
at a time. Keep in mind that we do provide re-fills via
mail. top
Q:
Why can’t I buy Valium, Codeine or similar drugs?
A: AffordMeds does not handle habit forming or narcotic
pharmaceuticals. These types of drugs are known as controlled
substances. AffordMeds’s mission is to provide safe
and affordable chronic care medicines that improve quality
of life.
Q:
Why are medicines cheaper in Canada? Is the quality the
same?
A: There are several reasons. The Canadian government limits
the cost of prescription medication, consumer advertising
of drugs is not allowed in Canada, retail mark-ups on drug
prices are regulated, and the US dollar exchange rate is
very favorable. The quality of medication in Canada is highly
regulated. Many of the name-brand medications in Canada
are manufactured in the same facility as brand name medication
sold in the United States. Generic products in Canada are
also of very high quality, and are usually available earlier
than in the United States. Note that when possible a generic
will be substituted to insure that you receive the most
savings. Note that branded versions are available at significant
savings as well. top
Q:
Do I need to change my doctor? Do I need to change my medicine?
A:
No. Your medical condition will continue to be managed by
your regular physician. The only medicine which will be
prescribed is the medicine you are already taking. If your
medication is not available in Canada, you would be advised
if an alternative product is available. You would then need
to discuss this with your physician. top
Q:
Why do you not sell all Canadian prescription drugs?
A:
We do not offer narcotics, controlled substances or any
habit forming drugs. dditionally, not all drugs are cheaper
in Canada. Many drugs offer substantial savings. Please
note, some brands have been generic for a long time which
results in less savings in Canada. AffordMeds’s friendly
staff will help you to decide how much savings you will
receive in advance of your trip. Please note we do not sell
the following drug. top
Q:
Can a Canadian based drug store fill my U.S. prescriptions?
A: Yes, the only requirement is that you need a prescription
to be co-signed by a licensed Canadian phycisian which is
included in AffordMeds service. top
Q:
How long a supply of medication will one trip to Canada
result in?
A:
One year! An individual is allowed to re-import up to a
three month supply of medication for personal use. Subsequent
refills will allow you to receive the balance of your prescription
via mail. Thus, one order from Canada will result in a one
year supply of your necessary prescription medication. top
Q:
Why do I want to use a a Licensed Canadian Pharmacy?
A:
Canadian prescription drug pricing is anywhere from 40%
to 80% cheaper than US
Q: What medications are available?

It is not for medication which you have just started, or
medication that is being adjusted. Also, certain categories
of drugs are not permitted be sent across the U.S. border
or cannot be sent by mail. top

Are anti-depressants available? What about other pain medications?
A:
Yes, and anti-depressants such as Prozac, Zoloft, Effexor,
are much less expensive in Canada, as well as certain types
of tranquilizers or mood stabilizers such as Risperdol,
Zyprexa . Neurontin, often used for pain, is approximately
75% less expensive in Canada. top
Q:
